Information for Parents/Carers

As all apprentices are of employed status, our relationship is mainly with the employing organisation who is sponsoring their apprenticeship and therefore any information and communication regarding the apprentices’ performance is discussed with the employer and not the parent/carer.

We appreciate that this is somewhat different to the process for those in compulsory education and as a way of engaging more with the parents, we have this dedicated page of our website to provide you with all the necessary information you may need to know about your son or daughters’ apprenticeship programme.

We have also produced a leaflet for parents and carers which can be downloaded here.

Welcome Morning

If your son or daughter is successful in securing an apprenticeship programme through GET, you will be invited to attend a welcome morning, usually on the Saturday morning before their first week of training. During this welcome morning we will provide you with an overview of the programme, the support services we have available and a tour of the building so you have an understanding of the environment in which they will be working. It is often common practice for employers to hold a similar event at their site also.

Learner Handbook

There are a number of policies and procedures in place which learners are expected to adhere whilst they are on programme with GET. They are all contained with the learner handbook which is available for apprentices on site and via our VLE. A copy of the handbook is also accessible via this link.
